General manager Clarita Richards says
that a favourite is the secluded beach at
Sand Bank Bay on St. Kitts.

“It gives the impression of being
windswept, that you are all alone with
nature. It is lovely—it seems that you are in
the midst of nowhere.”
Some couples choose the beaches;
others prefer historic sites, such as Romney
Manor or Brimstone Hill.
“We specialize in these really scenic locations that are not at
the hotels. They make for a more unique wedding,” Richards said.
“From the basic paper work to flowers, videographers, photographers,
reception excursions, such as sunset trips aboard a large
catamaran, we can arrange it all.
Popular locations include beaches, such as Pinney’s, Oualie or
Nisbet on Nevis, and South Friars Bay or the plantation inns on
St. Kitts. The golf course of the Four Seasons Resort Nevis with
its stunning sea views is also a favorite, as is the hillside garden gazebo at Golden Rock Hotel.
On Nevis, a wedding planning company called
Tropical Bliss owned by Judy and Andrew Titley produces
private weddings in the elegant garden of their own
home, or on the beach. The upscale events they create
include all pewter cutlery and accessories, plus crystal and
china, plus a tent at the site. They can fly in flowers from
Florida and provide all the amenities the bride and groom
might desire.
It only takes a few days to arrange the paperwork
necessary to be married on either island, and it’s easy to
follow the simple guidelines. Here’s what you need to
know to being planning the perfect
wedding on St. Kitts or Nevis.
• The parties must submit the
required documents two working
days (Monday-Friday) before the
marriage ceremony. The magistrate
must sign the license prior to the
marriage.
• Both parties must have valid
passports and birth certificates as
well as a photo ID.
• If divorced, they must have a
decree absolute, plus a notarised
translation if the document is not in English.
• If either party is widowed, that party must have a
copy of the death certificate of the deceased spouse.
• In Nevis, a single person must submit a sworn
affidavit confirming single status.
• If the ceremony is Roman Catholic, it must be held
in a Roman Catholic Church, and the two parties
must have a letter from their home priests verifying
that they are unmarried and have received instruction.
• If an Anglican or other minister is to
conduct the ceremony, both parties
must have a letter from their home
ministers verifying that they are
known and unmarried.
• There will be charges from the notary
public and the marriage officer; this is
usually included in the wedding
package you choose.
• The marriage license cost US$80. But
if the parties have been residing on
either island for at least 15 days, it
only costs US$20 (what better reason
to stay longer?)
